WHAT IS A SENSOR ? | - |
---|---|
A sensor is a device that produces an output signal for the purpose of sensing a physical phenomenon. | In the broadest definition, a sensor is a device, module, machine, or subsystem that detects events or changes in its environment and sends the information to other electronics, frequently a computer processor. Sensors are always used with other electronics…(not completely true). |
Sensors are not always electronics | They can be Biosensors, Chemical Sensors, Biochemical Sensors, etc. |
VERY IMPORTANT | LIVING THINGS like HUMANS and LIVING-NON-HUMANS (other animals, plants, bacterias, viruses, etc) are full of sensors. Even if their complexity and a cartesian vision of the world pretends to reduce them to a set of parts (amino-acids are used to synthesize proteins), they are not machines and no electronics are involved into their ability to sens |
Possible Bioreceptors : | Enzymes, Cells, DNA, antibodies, etc |
